UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.

“For Sale 1968 Jeep Jeepster Willys Commando freshly restored, super clean inside and out. This Jeep has the CJ5 front clip conversion, which gives it more of the traditional Jeep look. It has the 3.8 liter 225 cubic inch V6 and manual transmission, runs and drives well. It has high back Jeep wrangler seats, front seats have sliders, front passenger folds forward, rear seats folds down and folds forward. It has new 16″ Ion wheels, matte black and machined finish and 305-70-16 (33×12.50-16) Toyo MT tires which are about 50% or better tread.

The radio does not work, and there is a tow bar installed on the front bumper. We do have and are not including a top with the Jeep, we don’t have one, it has always been stored in our garage. The next owner can modify as they choose, add a roll cage and a soft top, or find and install a factory hard top. This Jeep has much more room than a CJ5, and would make a great beach cruiser, dune rider, or just to have up your cabin for hunting and fishing. Clear AZ title signed and notarized, located in Buckeye, AZ 85326. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, we may be able to assist in locating a carrier or possibly deliver for an additional fee.”

Sorry peeps, not a cj5 front clip. The fenders are commando. You can tell from the body molding that starts in the front, comes across then along the side, where a side marker light would be on later models, then down toward the rocker panel. As that molding drops down, it gets its own shape unique to a commando. The grill is also commando. The “wings” on each side, that fill the gap for a commando hood, are simply removed. They are spot welded on and also contain the park lights, which is why there are no park light in the grill. But, that is a cj5, short nose hood. I have always thought that those willys engineers were cool, finding so many ways to use the same parts on a lot of their models. If I ever got a commando, I think this would be the way to go. Well done. Might just be the way they were supposed to look…man, I like the striping!

This jeepster doesn’t have the proper rocker panels(flared out) under the doors and the rear wheel wells are missing the flared trim. Must have been cut or something.

The panels looks expertly cut (good eye Roy). It really sleekens the body. I like the “Jeep” on the sides, too.

THANKS DAVE! The old guy needs a pat on the back once in while. 🙂 Took a while to figure out, why it didn’t seem right. Some V-6 insignia”s would set it off too. Hope you are having a good time.

I’ve seen several CJ-5’s modified with a Commando front wrap. I’ve always wondered what a Jeepster Commando would look like with a CJ front end. This Jeepster looks great, but it would not look good without the stripes. It needs a CJ grill for the turn signals for it to be safe, and legal.

A friend who knows Commandos told me that the lower rocker panels collect water and are susceptible to rust. So, maybe this was an easy remedy. I would have never noticed that they were cut on this one. My eyes are drawn elsewhere.

The previous owner of my CJ-5 highlighted the stamped name “Jeep” in Black on the side. I don’t think Jeepsters are stamped, but I do like the “Jeep” label where it would be on a CJ-5. A “V6” badge would look good on the body to make it match a CJ-5, because that is what we are used to seeing. But I just noticed and remembered that the V6 Badge on Jeepsters are on the upper corner of the doors, and are shown in these photos.

Someone did a good job with this. Looks much better than a commando frontend. I’ve seen some of them that do look nice but the CJ 5 looking front is great.

The clipped body lines threw me off too because I know cj5 fenders are different.

Never was a jeepster fan. This one sold me on the idea. Now I see the badges! Got to have ones these. 🙂 My new street car! 🙂

Looks nice. I just picked up a ’68, not knowing anything at all about Jeepsters. The rocker panels are practically completely shot, so I may bob them just as this guy did. Since seeing this and the comments, I’ve noticed a few others with various degree of rocker modification.

I need a few parts as I decide which route to take with this one. My engine runs, but the entire clutch linkage is missing and I have no idea what it should look like. This one is the half-cab, and I’m thinking of adding AC as I build it. I also need the door and window moldings.
