Looks good for the price.
“This is the classic Willys CJ2A that represents the first year the CJ (Civilian Jeep) was introduced (after wartime production). It has been restored and runs beautifully. Not a bit of rust. All new wiring, all new brake system, rebuilt starter, rebuilt transfer case, all new gauges, all new 12V electrical parts (converted from original 6V by previous owner), new muffler, just about everything new. Odometer wasn’t working so not sure of mileage. Clean title. Needs some minor work including horn, windshield wiper motor and some other little things. It doesn’t have a top (there were no tops/doors back then except a bimini style). I don’t recommend this vehicle for young drivers since there are no seat belts or roll bar (also not invented then). This jeep is worth twice what I am asking.”
They definitely had tops back then. It looks like a nice jeep. A few little things. Why not just finish the jeep if there are only a few small things left
That’s funny, “not recommended for young drivers” and his ad shows a young kid driving. I don’t know about worth double… I’m with that guy from MN, why not just finish the smalls. It does look like a nice, solid jeep. 40k+ I would imagine so not super early and not vec. The wide, modern style tires throw the look off for me…but I still like it.
What’s “the guy from Idaho” mean by “40k+”? Estimated serial number?
This is a NICE looking CJ2A… and appears to be a very good price.
But that’s some sloppy upholstery, esp the seat back wrap.
40,000 Vin#
we’re are big into vec 2a too and with that comes figuring out when in 46 these jeeps were made
The guy from AZ thanks you, Chris 🙂
No problem, I bet that Idaho guy is in the shower.
Tell the guy from Mesa I was in the shower! That’s funny, dagnabit!
When I bought my jeep and got it put together and drove it I was a “young driver” 16 at the time.In Ohio at that time you had to be 16 to get your driver permit.
I drove the jeep with no rollbar,no seat belts, windshield folded down, and pedal to the floor.Guess I should not have done that!
I was a young driver. But, I had seat belts, a roll cage, and a significantly underpowered Cj-5. Of course, I grew up around them and was full aware they could tip on their sides.
Shoot Doug, my first driver was my dad’s ’43 mb. Had an old bar stool seat cushion in the driver seat, only front brakes, no belts or roll bar, 3 working lights and went a lot of places that had “built in parking brakes”. I hear you…
Todd, I also remember at one stage of working on my jeep as I prepared to get it painted driving it around with no front bumper or any lights installed on the jeep.I had removed the top as well.I am surprised that the local police never bothered me on that.It may have helped that my neighbor as I was growing up was the police chief in our town!Dave, for me tipping my jeep on its side happened later during Christmas break my first year of college.I was only travelling about 30 mph on a unplowed snow covered road when I am not sure to this day what happened but I lost traction while in 4 wd high and a rut got me sliding sideways ,I could not straighten the jeep out and hit a stop sign on my side. The jeep layed on its left side until someone finally helped pull it over,Luckily my brother and I were not hurt.We drove the jeep home.
Wow Doug, what time zone are you in? Man, it’s early! Oh ya, I’m up. Feel asleep in my chair again. Back starts hurting around 3, so I get up and go to bed. Ewillys doesn’t usually update until 4 or after. Early today! And always nice to know the local police. I’ve always lived in a small town…
Todd, eastern time zone.Yes you are up reeelll early! You e-willys,willys jeep nut!I enjoy a small town or the country where I live now.:)
I’ve never been back east. Farthest I’ve seen is MN where my sleepy brother lives. Well, we’ve taken some road trips after jeeps thar got us a little further, but I was scanning for jeep treasures! I hear about and see pictures from over there, looks very nice…
