Wow: this looks sharp. Nicely done, but I add the second taillight for safety. The tradeoff being authenticity vs. cheap insurance (and I don’t trust the other fools on the road).

‘Restored’ 2A’s need to have the bow brackets put back on the side to be correct…makes the restoration more appealing. Without them, it may as well be a 3A body…my 2 cents worth.

Craig, good observation. Now that you mention it, this doesn’t even have the rear corner nor interior (behind the front seats) bow holders, either. Not a rainy day jeep.

I used to think all 2As came with bow brackets, but it seems to me I’ve run across some period photos that made me question that assumption. I’ll see if I can track down what made me begin to doubt that assumption. Still, I agree odds are this would have had them originally.

I do not really care for wheel rims matching the body (except olive drab). I don’t think that was the usual practice from the factory, seems like most had contrasting wheel colors.

Joe I have a set of mag mount lights I sit on each fender for daily driving. At a show I just pull them off. Nice looking jeep at a fair price.

Ed, that’s a really good idea. I’ve often thought about the safety issue that Joe mentioned and that solves both dilemmas. I also agree with Mark. The old flatties just look better when the wheels are contrasting colors, like it was from the factory. Craigs right, 2a’s aren’t 2a’s without bow brackets. It’s like spaghetti with no meatballs. Sure, it could come that way, but why? And Dave, what? All 2a’s have bow brackets. They look better with bow brackets. We are a better society because of bow brackets…well maybe not but the ones that aren’t better, it gives them a place to put their axe!

Todd: I couldn’t agree more with the lack of bow brackets on 2As. Yet, some examples include the Boyer Jeeps, none of which I can find had bow brackets. Here are some images: https://www.google.com/search?q=boyer+jeep&num=100&safe=off&client=safari&rls=en&biw=1387&bih=804&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Go0qVbSpIcn1oAS_24G4CA&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ

There are other examples I’ve seen that aren’t special orders like the Boyers, but I got to get packing today!!
