UPDATE: Dan forwarded me the wagon’s plates.
Dan spotted this wagon. He wrote, this ’57 has the rear ambulance doors of a Parkway but the regular side windows of a wagon. It has the GSA plate on the glovebox; maybe it’s a special order?
“1957 willys jeep station wagon almost restored just needs paint and interior. has electric windows, power steering , new brakes and master cylinders, new shocks with a 4 in lift kit , new 8000 lb winch , wire kit , tires and rims , mufflers , radiator , battery , clutch , runs good, starts right up, little smoke when you start it up , has a 283 v-8, runs smooth on highway”
Ooo, another plate. I think they are cool. Locks in a little history with the rig.
Pictures of the gov plate and the VIN plate have been added. The VIN plate’s prefix is confusing.
Looks like some kind of factory special order to me.
Oh and I think the stamped prefix is “4168” and missing the leading 5 which would make it 54168 (a 226 4×4 wagon). I could be completely off though.
Agreed, after a second look it does look like a 4 and not a 1. Maybe the 5 is covered?
