1952 CJ-3A APU Pittsburg, CA **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.

This looks like an excellent APU restoration project. This O.E. Szekely Mobile APU jeep has the holes in the dash for the extra gauges. Learn more about APUs here. The grille addition isn’t something standard (that I have seen).

Dave how did you identify this jeep, by the extra holes in dash ? Or maybe the power booster for the brakes?

Ya, as soon I seen the slotted type screw, under the hood, on the unique hood hump, I too knew it was an APU jeep. WHAT? I AM TOTALLY KIDDING! Dave, is there anything you don’t know? Holy moly, I’ve never heard of these before. Well, back to school I go. When I grow up, I want to be like Dave! Very cool article, by the way…

Looks like most of the good stuff is gone. This must have been an earlier four wheeled version?

Yep, the hood is my tell tale sign.

Todd, I wrote a whole book on how to be like me (https://www.createspace.com/3748035)! Just launch a company in California, make some money and own tons of stock, but then lose everything and move to Idaho to lick your wounds. Next, build a jeep and start a website thinking you know a bunch about jeeps only to find out there’ s a bunch you don’t know 🙂

I bought this bad boy not even knowing what it was, now I am looking for any information I can find… Just looked like a decent flatty for a decent price….for now I just plan on getting it running good and driving it!….oh looks like I am going to have to keep the stupid looking hood

    Alan,

lol … that is a rare hood and vehicle. I agree that it isn’t the prettiest. You can learn more by reading through these posts:

This thread gives some specific history.

Tom Sterndale has become something of an expert on these. I can pass along his information if you’d like.
