Thanks to Nicholas for spotting this one.
“1943 GPW WW2 jeep. Has GPW engine with T90 transmission. Runs nice, but been having an issue the starter barely cranks it over??? 75% finished restoring. All 5 combats with brand new tires, tubes, and flaps. Has 50 cal replica machine gun. You buy and finish, $11,000.00 CASH FIRM. FIRM does not mean $8500 or $10,500. Takes $11000 cash to buy her. Clear Illinois title in my name”
Looking at sellers Craigslist pictures I believe this jeep has a aftermarket repro body tub due to the lack of reflector mounting holes, no holes in rear panel for trailer socket mounts, no holes in rear panel jerry can mount, no holes for tie down brackets on rear panel and no top bow bracket holes, no holes by entries for door snaps, fire extinguisher mount, axe handle bracket, front side handles and missing axe head sheath. Pictures also show incorrect front frame rails with heavy fishplates welded to them and heavy iron bumper. Ad says 50 cal gun but pictures show a 30 cal. I wish him luck at $11,000 but anyone with WW2 jeep knowledge will probably pass.
Good eye, Lester. No holes for brackets that hold the tools on by the indents either.
Yep, repro tub and heavily repaired frame. Incorrect gauges and horn. Dampeners on the tie rods and metal oil lines. She does have many original parts, though. I wish the seller luck with the asking price.
