“1962 M170 US Military Jeep 4WD Extended Wheelbase Ambulance

This very rare M170 Extended Wheelbase 4WD Jeep is one of about 4,000 built for the US Government. Overall the body on the Jeep is in pretty good condition as it is over 50 years old. There are a few rust spots on the body as shown in the pictures. The frame and chassis are in nice condition. Many of the unique M170 Ambulance parts are included with this Jeep including 3 unique seats, wiring, the ambulance stretch dash brace and more. The front lights are in the Jeep and the rear military tail lights are missing. The windshield frame is excellent along with the hood and other parts. The windshield glass is broken. The floors on the Jeep are better than expected for a Jeep this age. I do not have the spare tire or top material.

Mechanically this Jeep has not run in years. Under the hood the Jeep is basically complete less the alternator and starter which are INCLUDED but not installed on the Jeep. All the 24 volt electrical system is complete. The Jeep rolls fine however it has no brakes and the transfer case is stuck in neutral. The wheels are original and the military tires hold air.

A neat & rare old Military Jeep with a lot of the unique parts that needs a complete restoration.”

Never understood why they made that big opening on the passenger side, then filled it up with a tire.

I was very tempted to go get this when it was originally on EWILLYS.The asking price then I believe was $900 had a title and the 24 volt distributor is there.Looked like a sound project for the money. Now it is $1,750!! I told myself I didn’t need another project with the slowness my GPW project is going. 🙁

    Hi Kirk,

This has disappeared off Craigslist. If I see it again, I’ll drop you an email. I’ve updated the post.

This was for sale for $900 and sold for $900. The guy bought it from Nashville to flip it. He picked it up and reposted it less than 10hrs later in Nashville.
