UPDATE: I located a full video clip of the ‘jeep’. Mark discovered via Hemmings that this was a plywood prop built on a Ford chassis for the Laurel & Hardy movie Great Guns. It’s reported the prop still exists in a private collection.

That is an amazing picture. The picture was released in Oct. 1941, how would Hollywood be able to get there hands on a prototype. I wonder if this something that movie studio built to replicate a Jeep? I have never heard of this vehicle before, always something new on this site to make you scratch your head!
Now that you say it, it could be a replication. That would explain its odd look. It’s wheelbase does seem unusually long.
It’s worth taking a closer look at the over all clip (which I don’t have at the moment). Maybe that will yield insights.
I found some interesting info on Hemmings’ blog from 2011. According to Robert D. Cunningham, it is a plywood mock-up on a Ford chassis. He states that it still exists in private collectors hands.
Thanks Mark. Here’s the link:

I’ve added a movie clip to the post showing the ‘jeep’.

Ewerton … no, it’s a fake 🙂
