UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $12,000
This was sold at a public auction back in 2011.
“Nice restored Willy’s Jeep Tribute that was restored a few years ago. Great running and a complete history of the restoration. Located in Des Moines, and is available for viewing.”
For $12,000 I hope it has an air filter on it!
I thought they quit the m38 in 1952.
The grill and windshield are wrong for an M-38.Thats for starters.I am no expert on M-38.The ad says tribute jeep.
I don’t like the word “tribute” when it comes to cars. Fake is more the word I hear! How about “re-creation”
It’s definitely got the wrong grille and windshield, but the body and frame appear correct (note the frame is missing the hinges for the grille, but the holes for the hinges appear to be on the frame). There are other things missing or done incorrectly, such as the lack of bezels, the non-military parking lights, the mounting of spare tire and spare gas can, etc. But, I think it still may be a M-38 at its core.
No M-38s were built in 1953, but the jeep could still be titled 1953, reflecting the date it was titled rather than the year manufactured, not an uncommon event.
