Looks to be a jeep salad.

“I have for sale a authentic WWII jeep believed to be built in 1944. The title shows 1947, but I believe this was when it was sold as surplus. The engine and transmission are out of a 1953 willys cj3b, though not original, runs and shifts fine. It currently has a hard top, but I do have another windshield for when the top is removed or replaced with a soft top. I currently have the doors off due to It’s missing the drivers side hinges.

PLEASE NOTICE the other windshield has broke, but is still in itse frame. The door’s have a broke window each. But at least its all flat glass and relatively inexpensive compared to other glass. The tires came off another jeep that was sitting so they will need replacing. Brakes need to be blead.”

Don’t see that much 44 here. Grill is an M38. Windshield is M38 or 3A. Tub is modified or from later model. Frame and axles may be 44.

The owner has added more pictures to the ad.

I’ve had some back and forth with the owner. I’m still not convinced it’s a 1944 MB.

The tub and frame are supposedly from an MB, although a tailgate has been added, side fuel fill added and the tool indents filled in. It supposedly has the rear toolboxes and the cowl glove box. The grill, windshield and tailgate are supposedly from a M38. The engine and transmission are from a 1953 CJ3B and apparently has a Holley 1908 carburetor which is why there is no hole in the hood. The wheels are not the original combat rims. The seats are not original. It has an arctic top.

He does not have any date plates or serial numbers. He thinks its a 1944 MB because when he puts “20” in front of the registration number (I guess on the title) it creates a hood number that is consistent with the second week of June 1944 for other MB’s he has seen.

The only glimmer of hope is that it looks like it has a full-floating rear axle which may indicate an MB. I can’t see enough in the pictures regarding the front steering linkage or transmission cross brace to get a sense of the age of the chassis.

Curious what other more trained “MB” spotters can tell from the newer posted pictures.

Does have the two holes for dash lights. Gauges are all wrong. MBs did go to the square stamped steel pedals in mid 44. Would help to see the tool box lids. Regardless, it would take a lot of work and money to put back original.
