UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.

Looks pretty good for having say for so long.

“1948 Willys two wheel drive pick-up. Pictures show where I picked it up a couple years ago after it had been found sitting for 30 years. I purchased it from the estate of the original owner. We have cleaned it up a bit, and removed some of the small parts anticipating that we would restore it, but we have changed minds and are going a different direction. Original engine is in it….we have not tried to fire it up. Body is in pretty good shape. This will be really nice when fixed up, or easily converted to four wheel drive. More pictures available upon request. Asking $1500 OBO. Open to offers, and may even consider some trades….no junk though.”

This is another of something I see frequently in these ads and ads for other classic vehicles. The owners often state they have owned the vehicle for several years and have never tried to start it so they don’t know the condition of the motor or drivetrain.
I find that hard to believe. How could someone, obviously interested, at least at some point, in a restoration, but they never try to start it? Never curious about whether or not it runs? Not even try to start it once in several years? Really?
    I just don’t think I believe that.

OH PLEASE! Don’t convert this to 4WD. These first edition 2WD babies, stock like this one, are precious. A BLACK PLATE California example is just a great start. Who cares whether the engine has been started. It’s there, maybe even rebuildable. Us New England snow bound Willys Nuts drool when we look at a bargain like this. Why you can’t even see the ground in that floor shot. Sure hope Dave’s Post gets a real Willys Lover involved.

I’m with you Glenn!!! What a peach just like it is . A gravity can with some fresh gas ,a cheater wire or two ,points file and a battery and Ive have that old girl running in no time ,and probably moving once the clutch frees up !!!

I have had my cj5 for 19 years and have not turned it over yet. I wanted to take a look inside to make sure I would not hurt anything. Of course I thought I was going to look at it within the month after purchasing it…but I get your point.

Glenn is right. These early 2WD Willys trucks are rare as hens teeth. This one looks to be in very good condition and the price is so reasonable. If I had the room, I would trailer over and bring it back.

Post now says DELETED by Author. Let’s hope some Willys Nut on Dave’s Site captured this excellent project and we’ll hear from its progress. A Willys Lives ON!
