A rare Willys Cargo-Personnel Carrier is about to undergo a restoration by the Ione Parlor of the Native Sons of the Golden West. This one is in pretty rough shape and sports the 6-226 Hurricane Motor. However, the running gear had already been gone through.
Information and specs beyond the brochure are difficult to find. Even good photos of them are rare. If anyone has any additional information on these, email Robert at buckydodle@yahoo.com.
Below are some pics of the jeep:

A Cargo Personnel Carrier-looking vehicle was for sale back in 2010 in Missouri. Note that this one has the same hinged windshield and sides as the one above.
Amazing find, Any background information on this particular vehicle, previous owner, where it was found?
According to the brochures there were 3 versions of these. I think this is an early version where the windshield hinges like a cj2a. Later ones hinged like a cj5 and I think the latest version didn’t hinge?
A source I can’t refind but made notes on:
1) The Indonesian government purchased a large quantity of these vehicle because they could carry 12 men and pull a 5000-pound trailer load
2) 12 gauge diamond plated steel cargo compartment. 26 sq feet
3) separate seats in the cab for rapid passage into and out of the rear of the vehicle when the passenger seat is folded forward. (sounds like a wagon passenger seat)
4) 70 cubic feet cargo area
5) 18 gauge steel body
It was donated to the group. Outside of that, I don’t know any more.
Steve, that’s more info than I knew. There must be one in a museum somewhere?
Any Info I can get will be greatly appreciated
In process of removing bed and cab
bed is welded to cab looks like some kid in shop class did it .
I would like to see what is supposed to look like.
Should I build my own floor panels and body parts or buy them?
no one seems to sale the top grill piece.
I will try to post more pictures as soon as I figure out how.
Hi Robert,
Email photos to me and I’ll post them for you.
Thanks,
– Dave
At one time I thought Willys America had one? but don’t see anything there now.
I was wondering that as well Steve, but I didn’t see one in their museum photos. I suggested they contact Paul Barry as he may have some specs or information on it.
Are there any tags on vin numbers?
I think Paul Barry at Willys America has one of these.

That is what a lot of welds on willys look like………………..
but they held together all those years.
If you are looking for more parts and ideas, check out the wagon/truck forum:

Yes, Willys America has one in the museum, as viewed in July 2014 at their Open House. It’s a late model with the large black gauge cluster. It also has a fold down windshield like a CJ-5, split front glass like some M38A-1’s.
Is the Ione Parlor… in the town of Ione, CA? If so, and if the owner wants some donor PU sheetmetal, i.e. floors & doors, then please contact me. I can help out. I have a Willys PU cab with a bad upper half that could help in the restoration.
