An article in the July 13, 1951, issue of the Toledo Blade reported on three kids who climbed the fence at Willys Overland and commandeered some jeeps.

    Great story in history. It’s true, idle hands make for the devil’s work. Today teenagers have video games to keep them off the streets. (lol)

    I would expect their parents would have had to pay for the damages back then. $15K is more like $50K today. These days, criminals get off way too easy so small crime is blatantly growing. Our state just passed a law increasing the amount of petty theft. I can’t afford to be robbed for the amount the hoodlums won’t even get a slap on the wrist. Maybe one of these kids dad was the mayor. (lol.)

    A lot of Willys employees lived right close to the Willys factory, so maybe their dad’s had to pay the damages.
