The seller of these photos knows jeeps pretty well to spot this as a slat grille.

Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
There are plenty of interesting, unusual, historic and surprising stories related to Jeeps and their owners. In addition, some of these features have nothing to do with jeeps. This link will display all featured stories starting from the latest.
Looking for parts and not sure where to go? There are a variety of large and small new and used parts sellers both online and offline.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

Just curious, how can one tell that this is a slat grill MB from this angle? Thank you.
Here was my thinking on it.
1. It is of course possible the seller had an additional photo from another angle to verify this claim.
2. However, whether or not the seller had another photo AND assuming the jeep is stock, this MB had the square gas tank sump. The change over from “Square” to rounded was done around MB 118XXX (very early Feb.1942 http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=57485&start=0). The change over from slat to stamped grille was a little later at approx MB 125809 (http://wwiijeepparts.com/Archives/JeepSerialNumber.html). Therefore, I believe this jeep *should* have had a slat grille.
I hope that helps. If I’ve figured incorrectly, please let me know! 🙂
Great info Dave! Thanks!
Looking at the photo, the fuel sump looks is square. In additions, solid rims, scalloped rear axles, 7-digit registration, “W” prefix, black Sheller steering wheel, no Jerry can mount in the back, no rifle mounts on the windshield…. are all slat grill features.
Also, the location of the horizontal hood latch make this am early slat with the low windshield.
Sorry for the typos above.

Thanks for the additional clues Dexter. I can relate to the fat-fingered-iphone misspellings 🙂
Excellent information Dexter, thank you!
