UPDATE: Still Available. This doesn’t have all the CJV elements, but does have some (see Bob’s comments below). May be titled as a 1953. You can contact Aubrey at 480-223-8171.
“There is nothing more rugged then a Willys Jeep, especially a ’50s one with some patina. This 1950’s Willys CJ3A is almost completely original. If you’re into off-roading or just want a beast to drive around, this CJ3A is located in Phoenix, Arizona. I WAS JUST INFORMED THAT THIS IS A VERY RARE CJ. IT WAS MADE FOR THE MARINES IN 1950 AND ONLY 1000 WERE MADE. I AM NOT A CJ EXPERT IN ANY WAY – IM GOING BY THE ADVICE OF SOMEONE WHO IS. THE ENGINE IS ORIGINAL AND RARE. ONCE I HAVE MORE INFORMATION ON THE JEEP — I WILL AD IT TO THE SITE. The CJ3A was the first CJ Jeep to use the L-134 Go-Devil 4-cylinder engine. The 2.2 liter straight-4 produced 75 hp and 114 pounds of torque, which is plenty to pull this bare bones vehicle around.“
I contacted the seller and he updated the ad, reflecting this as a CJ3A with an L-134 engine. I chose not to further confuse/annoy him by pointing out the fender or windshield nuances.
This Jeep is actually a CJ-V35/U
Bob,
The seller texted me back today asking if I knew it was a “rare jeep? Made for marines”. He said a “jeep person” had come by… was that you? I haven’t been there in person yet to look at it. How can you tell it’s a CJ-35V/U? I don’t know anything about those, being mostly a WWII jeep guy.
I’m in NY so I sent someone else to look at it and verify what it is. It has been civilianized so may of the unique V35 features are no longer there. The giveaway was the air filter, radiator and right front fender.
thank you guys for your input on my Jeep I’m not a specialist in NE way so I appreciate all your input
Dave,
Aubrey contacted me today and this CJ-V35U is STILL AVAILABLE.
