UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
It’s no reserve auction currently at only $102.50. Certainly worth that! I’m less convinced about the ‘extremely collectable’ claim.
“1946 WILLYS JEEP CJ2A NO RESERVE!

DYNOED AT 261HP
4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION
DANA T18 TRANSFER CASE WITH WARN OVERDRIVE
SERIAL NUMBER 33167 – EARLY PRODUCTION CJ2A AND EXTREMELY COLLECTABLE!!
SELLING NO RESERVE TO HIGHEST BIDDER!”
Collectible or not, this one looks stunning. Auction is up to $3050 (Sat 9:30 MST). I put it on my eBay “Watch List” so I can see what it ultimately sells for.
Do you recognize that steering upgrade, Dave?
I think this was posted for sale awhile back. I think he used it to go to the boat marina. I think I commented about the relatively plain tires and wheels for such a fancy jeep?
Looks like a saginaw steering unit up front. I’d guess a GM steering column of some type.
I just saw this one at the auction in Palm Springs. Really nice job, didn’t get a chance to see the engine up close, but it looked like a nice job all around. It will be interesting to see what it closes at on eBay.

It’s 2021 and i’m the proud new owner of this jeep. I think it’s been passed down to atleast 2 other folks and i’m the third. Crazy how I ran into it on this site!
Does anyone know the original owner by any chance 😀
Hi SJ,
It sure looks like a good build. I hope you’ve been enjoying it!
Unfortunately, I don’t have a lead on who originally built it. It’s also been updated enough that if the original owner were still alive (if the original owner of this 1946 had been a 20 year old for example, they’d be 95 now), he/she might not recognize it anyway.
Enjoy your weekend,
– Dave
