UPDATE:  Was $13,500. **Status Unknown**

It’s a solid looking M-38 with very little rust. I know the seller just washed this just before taking these photos. I don’t understand letting water sit in the jockey box underneath the seat and a few other rust prone places shown in the photos?

“1951 M38 Army Jeep – Original Condition – Runs and Drives – RUST FREE!
Has Current Title

This has to be the best M38 I have ever owned. Body is rust free and very straight. I have done a few things to this M38 to get it back on the road but without messing with its original condition. The following have been done for drivability and safety. 1. New brake shoes and wheel cylinders. 2. New rubber and S-shaped metal brake lines. 4. NOS master cylinder 5. New fuel sending unit (correct M38 one). 6. Complete wash of vehicle to remove about 1/2” of dust and other stuff that had accumulated on the M38 over the years of being in storage.

History: This M38 came from a municipal government who purchased it in the 1960s and was kept in warehouse since. It was used for parade duty sometime in it’s life by the city. It was released by the municipal government in the mid to late 2000s.

Body: The jeep appears to hardly been used based on it’s condition. The paint is not perfect as it had pigeon poop on some of the floor boards from where they sat on the windshield and on the front of the windshield near where the canvas top is slid on. (please see pictures for more detail) The jeep is very complete, even down to the jack and jack handle. The only items that appear to have been replace by either the city were a few of the vacuum tubes on the windshield going to the wiper motors. The windshield latches seem to have been replaced by either the government or the previous owner. (see pictures for more info) The fenders are very straight. The seats appear to be original as they still have the horsehair covered springs verses the foam found in repo seat covers now.

Engine and Drive-train: The engine is a very fresh rebuild and done correctly by the municipality, which included rebuilding the carb. Not sure when it was done, but all the rubber hoes and etc were replaced including the oil lines. The engine runs strong and smooth without skips. It holds between 30-40 psi at idle. It is std size. It’s the best running L-134 I’ve had. The trans/transfer works great and shifts nice and crisp. The only thing that was modified by the city was the temp gauge. The sending unit and gauge were replaced with a mechanical temp system verses the original electrical one.

Electrical System: The jeep is still in it’s original 24volt configuration and charges great. The wiring harness is in excellent condition with the correct metal Packard connectors. The fuel sending unit and gauge work (replaced the sending unit in the tank).
Tires: The tires appear to have been replaced (with the correct ones) sometime in the last 10 years. (please see pictures).
Accessories: Original jack and jack handle
Radio: Comes with a complete working AN/VRC-9 Radio. See pictures at bottom”
