UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9,000.
(01/14/2014) It’s listed as a ’48, but has a serial number of 12275. It has the early windshield, data plates, and rear hubs. Looks solid.
“This 1948 Willys Jeep CJ-2Awas a frame off restoration with all new sheet metal. The seats have been re-upholstered. It is a 4 wheel drive, 3 speed, 4 cylinder. Originally has 73,855 miles on old speedometer, but a new speedometer was installed and set at 0. The electrical system has been changed over to a 12 volt system. Original engine runs great!! Starts every time. This vehicle would be great fun to drive!!!”
Nice restoration, but those square washers & too long bolts through the windshield frame stick out like a sore thumb.
Calumet City, isn’t that where the Blues Brothers are from?
Sure looks like an early 46 to me, too bad he could not have installed tool indents, top pockets and bow holders on replacement tub. I find it hard to understand how you could research a complete restoration and not realize that what you had was a valuable VEC. Those square washers stick out, but make it a scarce, original winshield frame.
Mike, I had to search, but found the answer. Yep, the Blues Brothers were from Calumet City.
Mark, I hear you. However, one thing I’ve learned traveling and talking about jeeps is that a surprising number of people aren’t on the internet. Moreover, many people who aren’t familiar with 2As don’t know about the VECs.
a nice looking jeep to be sure, but not so vec. there are lots of things missing, columm shift, pioneer kit indents , top bow holders the list goes on. i did notice the original steering columm still there like mine. i will sleep better once i have that done. ( anybody have the parts to return to columm shift?) my cj2a is a 1945 serial#10510. anyway maybe next owner will take the time to improve on the vec. as an aside i drive mine daily and improve things as i have the opportunity and money, way more fun that way i think. once again excellent site dave and i enjoy the comments from your regular readers!
