Over the last couple of days I’ve been trying to get as much done as I can before my son arrives. As you can see, I’ve got the engine, transmission and transfer case installed. I’ve also updated all the rear brake lines and installed the new rear springs.
Unfortunately, I dropped the engine down enough within the chassis (when I changed the engine mounts) that the transfer case output yoke is too level, resulting in sharp driveline drop. So, I’m having to drop the tranny and TC. I might have to twist the rear axle as well, but will waiting until I set the body on the frame to see how the rear pinion angle changes.
So, more work ahead . . . This afternoon Colter and I will be heading to Gig Harbor to pick up Track Avenger 470cfm rebuilt carb I found on Craigslist. It will replace the old Carter 500 cfm that needed fixing.
Nice work Dave. Keep us posted on that rear angle.
I always like Lost Biscuit updates 🙂 Is there a concern that by dropping the transmission and transfer case (presumably by adjusting the engine angle to tilt back more) that you’ll help the rear driveshaft angle but worsen the front driveshaft angles? On a 48 CJ2A we’re just planning to keep engine, tranny and t-case level but adjust/twist the rear axle.
Dave, Maybe it’s the angle of the photo or the temp setup, but the driveshaft offset angle looks quite steep! But then my 1974 Cadillac Sedan de Ville worn out suspension/driveshaft is so low and flat, I can’t even clear a speed bump.
Guy: Yes, the angle is quite steep and that’s a problem. What you see is before I dropped the transmission some, which improved the angles and steepness.
Joe: I’m not worried about the front angles. If I traveled at road speeds I might, but since I only use it for jeeping, it won’t be a problem.
Dave, I first met you pulling into the Northwest FC Get-together driving Biscuit. I expect you to be pulling in again on August 2nd. You’d better work overtime to get the body on. (lol)
**Steve E.**
Last time I pulled in … this time I’d be dragging it in . . . 🙂
You can ride in with me Dave…. =) Or….we can work OT on Biscuit. Let me know if you need a hand with the body again.
November 26, 2012 Yea! I looooved reading this post! I love the picture of you finding the pink frosting inside…so much emotion! And I love the name Addison. Perfect.kaceyt recently posted..
