“What was supposed to be a rattlecan overhaul, turned into a full blown restoration that consisted of over 700 hours of labor and a significant monetary investment. This Willys has been a southern California native since new with very little rust, and has not had any accidents nor has it endured farm work, off road abuse or butchering by its previous owners.
It started as a solid and original foundation that we expertly crafted into what is being offered for sale now. As a father and son team with over 40 years of automotive mechanical, engineering and restoration experience, we undertook this project with personal pride and without the intent of selling it. However, circumstances have changed, new projects are on the horizon, and it is now being offered for sale. We have the clean CA title and current registration in possession.
During the restoration, all efforts were made in trying to salvage as many original pieces as possible, since most new reproduction parts are made overseas and are absolute junk. I would rather have a slightly worn American made component, than a new Indian one. If you are familiar with CJ2As you know what I’m talking about. When new parts were purchased we used reputable suppliers that specialize in Jeep restoration like Kaiser Willys, Walchs and Herm Tillford to name a few.
Only 2 years and under 1000 miles on this completed restoration. It is NOT a project, basket case or rattle can overhaul. Drive it wherever, whenever with confidence. Hundreds of photos were taken, and can be seen at https://1948willysjeepcj2a.shutterfly.com/pictures/1280 . Look over the pictures, and read the list above of all the work completed. If you understand parts and materials costs, and time involved in properly restoring a vehicle, then I believe you will agree that our Jeep is a good deal at its asking price of $19480, OBO.
Serious buyers only please. Tire kickers, dreamers or scammers, please find another hobby. Terms of sale are cash only, no checks, credit or trades of ANY type. Any shipping arrangement required is the responsibility of buyer.”
1948. Where it’s not only the year; it’s the price.
I just viewed all the attached photos and reread the seller’s claims. This ad is an impressive work of fiction bordering on sarcasm. I understand the cost of parts and labor and nowhere do I see any indication of a quality restoration.
