“Up for sale is my 1942 Willys MB Jeep. These WWII Jeeps are gaining in popularity and have become one of the “the must buy” affordable collector vehicles. I picked up this Jeep from the Northern reaches of the Bay Area where it had been parked for years due to a bad valve. Since acquiring the Jeep, I have addressed all the major issues to make this Jeep an extremely reliable cruiser. In fact, I drive it all the time to do local errands and to attend local car shows.

Work done within the last year:
– Engine valve to replace the one that had cracked
– Head gasket
– Head studs
– Original WWII head checked and restored
– Oil pump
– Distributor
– Points
– Plug wires
– Plugs
– Coil
– Cross over tube and intake hose
– Original WWII oil bath serviced
– Oil pan
– Water pump

– Radiator hoses
– Rebuilt correct Carter carburetor
– Carburetor manifold
– All fuel lines
– Correct fuel filter
– Exhaust manifold
– Exhaust
– Engine has perfect 130 compression across all cylinders and starts right up every time
– Flywheel checked and resurfaced
– Pressure plate
– All clutch linkages
– New pedal assembly bushing welded onto frame and all pedal components redone (no play in the pedals)
– Transmission and transfer case rebuilt
– Parking brake rebuilt
– Entire brake system restored (new cylinders/shoes/lines/adjustment hardware)
– ALL wiring replaced with new correct wiring and junctions
– Main blackout light/headlight rotary switch restored (black out lights work flawlessly)
– Fuel level sender
– Jeep has been converted to 12v with a GM 1 wire alternator, properly rewound 12v starter, 12v coil with internal resistor and 12v rear taillights and blackout light bulbs
– Steering box rebuilt
– Pitman arm rebuilt
– Front grill restored
– Passenger fender channel replaced
– Windshield assembly restored (new gaskets, new glass)
– Rear seat brackets replaced
– Beachwood canvas top and rear seat canvas
– Original combat wheels restored
– Tires are the larger “touring” tires with rounded sidewalls used on later military Jeeps

Lots of other smaller parts have been replaced or installed during the restoration process. My goal was to get this Jeep into “reenactor quality,” meaning it looks the part, is completely reliable, but will not win awards at a concourse show. The tub was not removed from the frame and is original, so it does have some rot damage in the channels and rust damage on the fender steps. However, it is solid and has lots of character. I have it on historical vehicle plates, title is clean and the registration is current. It gets LOTS of positive attention whenever I take it out. Honestly, the PRICE IS FIRM. I’m not in a hurry to sell, as summer is around the corner. Do not come to see the Jeep if you are not willing to pay my asking. NO TIRE KICKERS.”

    Jerzy,

The jeep is still available, but the ad expired on craigslist so I don’t have any contact info. If the jeep reappears, I’ll drop you a note so you can contact the seller.
