“This is a very cool classic Willys CJ-2a Jeep. This particular Jeep was modified very early on with a high-side kit and Expedition rack to serve as a Forest Service fire trail go-anywhere rig. The back seat was removed, a utility lock box placed, and the Expedition rack built to hold two 5-gallon fuel cans w/a locking strap, Hi-lift Jack w/same, and a full-sized matching spare tire. It was painted Fire Engine Red way back then, and has a wonderful vintage patina that really goes with the overall vibe of the rig.

The entire drivetrain has under 10,000 miles on it; I have receipts for all the work which was done at Woody’s 4×4 here in Vancouver, WA. In 1997 with 65,150 original miles on the Jeep, the previous owner had the entire vehicle gone through beginning with the removal of the original low-power 4-cylinder engine and installation of a rebuilt Buick 231 (3.8L) 130HP power plant. The conversion was professionally done including a rebuilt Saginaw heavy-duty steering gear box, engine mounts, custom exhaust manifolds, recored radiator for larger engine, 12v conversion with full-sized battery, fuel supply upgrade, etc. At the time the conversion was done, the suspension was rebuilt and a small lift installed, new Rancho 4000 series shock absorbers installed, and the tie rods, ends, steering knuckles, etc. all rebuilt.

The Jeep currently has 74,831 miles on it; under 10K since all the work was done. It starts at the first turn of the key and runs and drives beautifully.

A new clutch was installed, the front brakes were converted to contemporary 11″ Jeep brakes, and new master cylinder, wheel cylinder, lines, etc. done to rebuild the brake system. The 4-speed transmission and axles were serviced at that time. I have receipts for all the above work that will be included in the sale.

An overdrive was installed to allow practical use as both an off road rock-crawling Ninja as well as a highway cruiser. All the boxes work as they should, 2/4, Hi/Lo, and Overdrive, as well as the four-speed manual transmission.

15″ steel wheels and taller traction tires were also installed for off-road clearance. The Jeep has a removable front tow bar so you can pull it behind your RV, truck, or whatever. It comes with both the Bikini top featured, as well as a full soft top and door setup.

There is no rust to speak of on the vehicle; the floors, rockers frame, etc. are great. Even the box under the passenger seat is solid. Very minor surface rust around where the paint has failed. The original glass is yellowed; that’s the only thing I’d say the Jeep “needs.”

Interior upholstery is great, gauges work (except fuel gauge), great oil pressure, great vehicle. Clear title ready to go.”
