Like the gas petal… any one else remember the commercial that petal was in?
I remember that commercial …in the 70s, I think. I forget what they were selling, but the pedal had cost the guy like $10 π
This is a cool FC: a jeep to haul around the tools to fix my other jeeps!
I’ve found hauling around tools with my jeeps a wise thing to do. I hope that doesn’t reflect on my mechanical abilities . . . .
Yep…I remember that commercial. The guy was buying gas. You can see the commercial here:

I saw another up in Mich. (I think) a few years back on this site. Same tool bed and canvas top. This would be the coolest Boy Scout troop hauler in the District. Too bad it’s not the 677 version, but then it would be $60k not $6.
I never realized the distributor came through the head on the “226”, great for installing and setting points.
Does anyone saw this truck in person? Just for curiosity, I would like more information about it. At this price, it should be already sold, right?
I am also surprised it hasn’t sold yet.
SOMEONE out there needs this great FC. It’s way too cool and useful to be just sitting idle. Wish I was in a position to get it.
This FC has been in the spotlight for a few years now. I don’t know how many times it was bought and sold since I first saw it. I wouldn’t mind owning it but I can’t expand any further. Maybe because it resembles an M-677 with the color and long canvas shape.
I may not remember the history on this FC. But for some reason I will always remember that stupid commercial where the young driver couldn’t afford gas because he paid $10 for the goofy foot gas pedal. I believe it was Shell. I can’t believe you found that commercial, Craig, but I couldn’t open it or it’s gone. I would get a kick out of seeing it again.
I’ve never seen the attraction to buying a pedal like that. I remember them in stores. They came with two pedals, one for the accelerator and one for the dimmer switch on the floor. But on an impulse, I can’t believe I bought the small foot at a swap meet. I put it on the floor switch for the Gear Vender OD on my Chevy tow vehicle. I’m hoping it will keep me from hitting the overdrive switch when I need high beams. Why did they move the high beams to the turn signal lever on these new-fangled trucks? It belongs on the floor like it always has been. (lol)
If I had any money this would be a perfect truck for my restoration shop….. I can dream I guess π
We are slowly working on restoring a 1942 Dodge ambulance that will have tool cabinets inside.
