“Willys 1947 Civilian Jeep, rare 99% original, 39,000 miles, VIN# 152503, good box and tub, original top, red rims, military tires, gray body, options: hi-low plow, jump seat, original jack, grill cover, hitch. Very good original condition.”
Wow! This one look very original. I would take it like this. No need to restore it. It’s already a diamond for me. Wish I had money. Hope it will find a good home.
That must have been a pretty exciting barn find. I have never seen the extra canvas flap in back covering the tailgate. I assume to use with tailgate off.
I was thinking the same thing Pascal and Mark were, what a great crusty old jeep, and have never seen the tailgate flap either.
I think the “extra” flap is for the half cab canvas top configuration. There it would be between the wheel wells just behind the front seats (there are footman loops on the floor at that location for the straps). Someone with a full top probably knows for sure though.
Dan, I think you are right, just not sure how it got on to full top. Maybe jeep had a full and a half top at one time, or just was a replacement for original rear flap.
DanB is right. It’s a 7 piece top that converts to a half top. http://www.newlifecanvas.com/cj3a.html
