It has a license plate on the back which means it must have had a title at one time to be legally registered. Maybe it’s still on file with the state. Is it hard to title an untitled vehicle in Iowa?

I know in illinois you can go through a title company and get a duplicate. if you buy a vehicle that has no title you are out of luck. the fire department should get a new title before selling it. then again it says eligible for bonded title, whatever that means.

In Arizona you can get an Abandonned Vehicle title… and then register it normally. It just took a free inspection (verify VIN/serial number(s)), notorized form, $10 fee, and 1-2 months anxiously waiting… but it worked on my 1944… I even got Historic Vehicle Plates. Now I need to do this for my 1942 GPW, but they want it all together/assembled for the inspection.

A bonded title is a completely new one, and a lot of paperwork as well as $$$ to get..
In WI, I believe it runs about ~$4-500 bucks.
A real pain in the butt…

My dads neighbor won the bid on it. I haven’t seen it in person yet and also haven’t heard what he paid.

  6. Willys Enthusiast

I bid on it and when I check it went for $7,777.77 from what I was told. If anyone was wondering.

That looked like a solid M-38A1, but is a pretty hefty price, especially with the title issue. I guess it time to drag my M-38A1s out of storage and test the market.

  8. Buz

That’s a big price for that Jeep. Around here a bonded title can be had but the bond has to be 150% of the value of the vehicle, that’s going to be an expensive bond for this one. Really makes you wonder how a government agency can not have a title.

  9. Robert Anderson

Agree that the price seems a bit high…
However, if the buyer actually bought it to use for it’s intended purpose as small fire vehicle, it certainly would make it a good deal..
    Just saying !
