“Selling my 43 Willys MB after a fresh frame off restoration. It is a real military jeep the same as Ford GPW. Clear Arizona title. Starts, runs and stops great. Many new parts. Same body style as Cj2a.

More Details:

1943 Willys MB
Army Jeep
Frame and Body:
Frame off restoration. Body was removed, frame was wire brushed and painted with Epoxy primer and top coated with correct shade of OD green synthetic enamel (Lustreless Olive Drab – Shade #8 (OD319). Frame- front frame horns, rear cross member, front bumper (used 4″ channel), and bumper gussets were replaced. Body-Arizona jeep but was parked outside with sprinklers hitting it so I had to replace hat channels, and patch the floor where the hat channels were attached. Fabricated new fuel tank well and replaced metal where the ax and shovel are mounted. Looks like it was used as a hunting jeep because it was painted camo and had lots of small dents. Rear panel had been cut so it could be used as a tailgate. Welded rear panel back correctly. Any rusted areas were replaced with steel. Bondo was only used to skim over some of the welds to make them look clean. Body was stripped, primed with epoxy and top coated with correct shade of OD green synthetic enamel from TM ordnance (Lustreless Olive Drab – Shade #8 (OD319). While prepping body for paint, I took care to remove the non-original paint from the hood to determine the hood numbers. The body is solid and rust free but is far from straight. It has no windshield. Jerry can holder and spare tire carrier are not original.
Engine and Transmission/transfer case:
Rebuilt engine, which from the numbers appears to be from a 1947 CJ2a. Crank main and rod journals ground and new bearings installed (0.040). Reused camshaft and installed new cam bearing. Reused pistons, installed new piston rings and honed cylinder bores (STD bore). Rods inspected and ends resized as necessary. Lapped valves. New gaskets and seals throughout. New Solex carburetor, fuel pump, new water pump, new distributor, later model oil pump from F-head. Disassembled, cleaned and inspected T-90 transmission and installed new gaskets, seals and needle bearings (Does not have the original T-84). Cleaned, flushed and inspected Dana 18 transfer case. Has the early model sized front oil squirter — would recommend finding the smaller diameter one that came in later model L-Heads.
Differentials and Brakes:
Front Dana 25 was completed disassembled, cleaned and inspected. Had an old tube repair where it met the pumpkin that had to be cleaned up. Ring gear has chip in one tooth. Installed used long axle shaft (not Rzeppa joint, short side has original axle with Rzeppa joint), near inner seals, and steering knuckle gaskets. Front drums are in excellent condition. Rear Dana 27 was disassembled, cleaned and inspected. Rear drums in excellent condition. New inner seals and outer axle gaskets. Both differentials have original cast iron type pumpkin covers. Both are 4:88 ratio. New master cylinder. Replaced all 4 wheel cylinders. U-joints were disassembled, cleaned and re-greased. 2 show some wear and I would suggest replacing them sometime down the road. Ross Steering box was disassembled and cleaned. New bearing for shaft, did not touch drag link which does has some play. New bell crank kit installed.

Electrical:
Jeep did not come with a wiring harness. Following a wiring schematic, I used modern wire to run necessary circuits to make it run and drive.
Misc:
New voltmeter, oil pressure and temperature gauge. Fuel gauge and speedo appear to be original — don’t know if they work, speedo needle is broken. Does not have the correct oil bath air cleaner. Seats are from a CJ2a. Starts, runs and drives very well. Gas tank is not correct for the jeep. It is a brand new tank for a CJ2a that has been modified with a top fill like would have come in the MB. Has correct size 16″ rims that are not combat rims. The original paint on them appears to be OD green so they may just be a later model military- not sure. All tires hold air, but 2 have really bad dry rot.
Serial # 266003/Body type ACM Type 1 # 168422
Hood Number 20357988, engine #J 134948
Date of delivery 9/19/1943

I’m selling it to work on another project – CJ2-a. I have tons of pictures email me for more.”
