Didn’t M38A1s have the hinged front grill? The rest of it appears consistent with an M38A1 (vice CJ5).

I believe the early ones had the hinged grille, but not the later ones….but I may be wrong….

I took some time to find out when the hinged grille stopped (and learned a few additional pieces of info). Production M-38A1s from the beginning in 1952 through Oct/Nov of 1953 included:
-Battery Box was 8 thumb screws
    -Front Grill was hinged
-No Radiator Support rods were present
    -Front fenders were seamed differently.

Thanks Robert and Dave. I learn something new on eWillys every day… a key reason why it’s my daily addiction! πŸ˜‰
