That engine with the ‘R’ stamped before the ‘MCXXXXX’ denotes that it was a rebuild. There’s probably a rebuild tag on the lower right side of the block by the starter.
Did some looking and seems I have misspoken. The ‘R’ mean replacement. My mistake.
Really neat pictures…Makes you wonder what other treasures might be hiding in Detroit’s abandoned buildings that are being burned and demolished all the time now. I was there a few weeks ago and it was sad to see a once proud and bustling manufacturing section of a city all graffiti’d up and fenced off.
