(10/14/2013) This might be worth a look. Burns is a small town in Oregon that’s pretty far from other towns.

Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
There are plenty of interesting, unusual, historic and surprising stories related to Jeeps and their owners. In addition, some of these features have nothing to do with jeeps. This link will display all featured stories starting from the latest.
Looking for parts and not sure where to go? There are a variety of large and small new and used parts sellers both online and offline.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

I will be driving through Burns within a month….
Dennis:
Have you driven through eastern Oregon yet? That route is stark and mostly flat, though there are a couple small summits to cross over, but most of it is flat and stark. I’ve driven it several times during the winter and it can get icy after a snowfall.
Are you making a quick trip of it or will you be taking your time driving across?
– Dave
isn’t this area where they film all the end of the world movies, at least that what I thought when I drove across it about 30 years ago.
It is still refreshingly desolate.
Burns, OR is a great place to find Willys Jeeps. Eastern Oregon is a beautiful place, but co-old in Winter. There was a Willys Dealer there, and they sold a lot of Jeeps of every type. Since Burns is not in a corrosive environment, it’s a great place to find excellent surviving vehicles.
Yes, Burns is on the dry side of the Cascade range, and getting there seems like you will meet Mad Max. But Burns itself is a nice place visit (in summer! lol.) My family of 3 at the time spent the night just outside of Burns in the back of the pickup on the way to skiing at Sun Valley, Idaho. When we woke up, there was ice inside the camper shell. My 7 y.o. stepson and I were O.K., but the wife froze her pettutie off.
(Finding a good Jeep in Burns is my only Willys secret that I’ve kept until now. lol.)

To the purchaser – don’t junk that top – it is a Porter and Reed , they are getting pretty rare. And I’d like a photo of the back door, hatch or whatever one calls it – I have to fabricate one
