UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9500
There can’t be too many Israeli jeeps in the US. I wonder if there’s paperwork as well?
“We have just acquired a very unique jeep for sale it’s a 1955 Willys M38A1 once owned by the Israeli army. This is an extremely rare vehicle to be imported back from Israel all the markings are correct to the time. It is my pleasure to offer it for sale for $9500 delivered anywhere in the US.”
Back in the mid to late 1980’s Southeastern Equipment Co in Augusta, Ga, bought a bunch of these Jeeps and had them stored at their location, there were at least 50 of them, all ex-Israeli army CJ-5 units with really thick paint. I know they reconditioned many of them and sold them to some place in South America, so they continued to serve on.
To me it looks earlier then a 55. More like a 52 through late 53 because of the hinged grill, 45 degree seam in the fender, and the thumb screw battery box cover.
Good points TJ. I think you are right. I missed those details.
