UPDATE: I’m told this sold. This was listed at $1200.
Here’s a great price on a running Fleet Van that Jesse spotted.
“Must go cleaning out garage.Good project vehicle, motor runs good and 3 speed tranny works well. Have all the glass, bumpers and trim. Lost interest in this project.1200”
This is from Sept 5th, this van was sold for less then the asking price, and relisted by the local buyer for $2900 on another site, with no addt’l work done. the American way, buy low sell high. The original price seemed reasonable, but i’m looking for the shorter postal FJ-3. One of these days.
I’ve wanted one of these since the first time I saw one, but I have no idea why… I can’t think of anything I would use it for.
I’m in the same boat… my wife things of all the JEEPS I chase after this one is the uglyest and she is likely RIGHT! lol I guess I should find her a pink surrey jeep first….
I do think that restoring one as a post office van would be really neat!
I used to drive one of these back in the 1960’s for a home delivery newspaper dealer; the fleetvan was perfect for this type of delivery. Because they were so top heavy, if you had two guys stand to the passenger side door you could feel it begin to tip over. the game was to do this while driving then move to center to keep it from tipping. I still want one of these and there is a guy in Lodi NJ that has had one sitting in is backyard for 20 years. Still trying to buy it; I’ll have to ring his doorbell again. Thank God I don’t have a wife to nag me.
Mike, you’re lucky to find one of these Fleet Vans intact, if you are able to purchase it and if your plans change at any time for it, please keep me in mind. I’ve got the fever bad to do one in Post Office r w & b regalia. Hopefully it’s not out in the rain or snow, rusting away. Good luck
Roger, I’ll keep you in mind.
