UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on ebay.

This was sold in Phoenix in 2012. Now it’s for sale in Florida on eBay. The new seller is using the pictures from the previous eBay listing.

Flat fender high hood Jeep. This is a rust-free original Arizona Jeep, purchased new by the state of Arizona for use by Salt River Project Power and Water. The Jeep still has the original windshield with the SRP decal still intact. It was purchased from SRP surplus by a retired employee in the mid 80’s and has spent the last 25 years on his ranch in northern AZ, before being purchased and fully restored. Has original OHC 4-cylinder Willys Hurricane engine, 3-speed manual transmission and 4-wheel drive. Full frame-on cosmetic restoration was just completed including fully disassembling down to the bare tub, sandblasting and re-assembly. The Jeep was totally rust-free to start with, so there is very little filler and no patch panels. Engine was fully resealed and detailed to showroom condition. The complete suspension and braking system was rebuilt and upgraded to 11″ brakes from a later CJ5. Brand new wiring harness, starter, generator and regulator have been installed and tested. This Jeep has painstakingly been re-outfitted with all the correct original details down to the canvas straps, jerry can and shovel and axe mounted on the tub. Vacuum operated windshield wipers were added and all new handmade lines run. Also, the original period correct Motorola two-way radio used by SRP is still installed. Five new Firestone OE spec tires were installed to finish off this authentic and rare CJ3B.

    Dave-

    This did not really “sell” at Barrett-Jackson…. the seller bought it back from himself. B-J is a “no reserve” auction and the sellers buy them back at the cost of the fees (both ends) to not have to give them away too cheap. “no reserve” auctions are a load of crap.

    Pre B-J auction, he had this listed for $8500 (-ish) on his website. Post B-J buyback, he wanted $11000. He and I had a phone conversation on what this Jeep was worth and we didn’t exactly agree with who should pay for his B-J “mistake” . I think it went on eBay to someone in FL for close to that.

    bill;

    good afternoon.

    i think you are saying it sold on ebay for 11 grand? it looks like a very nice jeep. but if the guy who bought it is now selling it a year or two later, it goes to show these little jeeps are nice to look at and drive to the corner store for some beer or what not, but that is about it. not safe, can’t take um on the highway. and so on.

    im my opinion this one is worth about 7. he might find someone to pay more than that but if he paid 11, he won’t get that back out of her, i’ll put 100 bucks on it.

    SRP is Salt River Project, a State of Arizona subsidized electric utility company. This has some things that are very M38 and CJ2A that I haven’t seen on a CJ3B before (tool indents, top bow holders, grab handles). If SRP bought this originally, they would have bought several more similarily equipped, due to the mountainous and desert regions the company operates in. I have never seen a CJ3B equipped like this. I have lived in Arizona for 62 years and in the Phoenix area where SRP has its headquarters for over 40 years and not seen one like this. Maybe there are a few more out there like this one and maybe this has some repro parts on it, like the body tub?? Are there any M606 Jeeps out there with these parts on them? Just thinking!

    Colin- when I spoke with the AZ guy way back when, he said the tub was original. He obviously was no Jeep expert, this is a replacement tub. The rest of the accessories were added when “restored”.

    and too bad that’s not a stock color… I kinda like it.
