A Couple Days Near Mt. Rainier

I’ve caught up on a few things, but am still behind on eWillys. So, just a few posts tonight. More tomorrow. Also, I ordered the book proofs AND purchased www.amberpanels.com (not sure why I didn’t think to purchase that domain name sooner).

We had two blue-sky days of camping at Ohanapecosh and ZERO cell reception! The second night was a little noisy, thanks to a visit by the local Boys and Girls Club at two nearby camping spots. Oh well, at least it was pretty! Here are a few photos.

This photo op was taken on the west side of White Pass heading toward Rainier. That’s Zollie (aka Mr. Personality) in my arms. He’s 1/2 dog and 1/2 . . . cat?

Here’s our campsite with all of the National Park behind us (plus a few bears, too). I married into that bed . . . yes, we may camp, but we sleep comfortably!

I was having some fun taking pictures. No shortage of trees to shoot. I liked the way this tree fell perfectly straight, but bent with the uneven ground.

I was looking up from my camp chair and thought this would be a great shot. 30 photos later and I think I got it :-)

Zollie is pretending to be a dog, but that didn’t last long. He got to the beach and warmed himself. He didn’t like the idea of swimming. The river is crystal clear at this point . . . beautiful!

There used to be a bridge that spanned from the top of the bare spot on the right to an unseen spot to my left. It was washed out in 2006 and never replaced. It used to be a great trout spot, but they don’t stock it any more I was told.

Here I am strumming my six string . . . my attempt to keep the bears away . . . and drown out the noise from the G&B Club kids.

    Is ‘Zollie’ a Pekingese ?

Nice surrounding Dave, don’t get forest/trees that big here in SA.

Dave, I just sent you 3 pics (not as high quality as yours) that I snapped on the East side of Rainier last week. One is my wife headed up one of the trails on the Glacier cleared by the Elk, Another is the view from above the tree line looking off the cliff with just the outline of Rainier in the clouds.
