UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Every inch of the vehicle is fully restored from original parts??. . .  It’s a fraudulent claim; Yet, the bidding on this has been pushed to $20,000 (driven mostly by one bidder). This seems fishy to me. If you are bidding on this jeep, email me.

Original parts? I don’t think so. It’s funny that one guys seems to be bidding it up, I guess just to hit the reserve, which must be really high!

  2. John

He’s got a “Buy it Now” price of $35,000
I would hope that he’s not being deceptive, but that, for him, “original parts” really means “original replacement parts”, which can mean any legit replacement part from any era as long as it meets original specs (or close).
If he thinks he means NOS then he’s wrong.

John, I also wondered about that statement, because lots of times people confuse restoration with rebuilding/refurbishing, which I can understand.

After mulling what to say about the listing, I decided that either the seller is misleading themselves or they are trying to mislead others. Either way, I’d hate to see someone plunk down that much money on this vehicle. At the very least, since the bumpers alone are not an original part of any type (they look home made to me), I feel the seller’s claim of all original parts is invalid.

I would be very suspicious of this seller. All of his feedback scores are as a buyer….Vehicle location is supposed to be Indiana, but HIS location is vague…Also his name is very similar to known scammer in the 98k bayonet circles…added to the inflated value of what he offers…
    Bells are going off!!!

I don’t know a lot about the early CJ2A’s, but there are so many things that are NOT VEC stuff that I wouldn’t touch this Jeep! Looks like a repop body, no tool indents, no full floating axle, no column shift, wrong grille/parking light setup, exhaust should be crossover style like the MBs, exiting on the right side under the passenger door opening, tailgate should be stamped Willys, as should the Windshield frame, no foldout windshield and we can go on and on……………………..

I wonder why the “Professional” who rebuilt and assembled this Jeep installed the spring shackles backwards and didn’t even try to fit the rear frame crossmember to the frame reinforcement, among other things. My BS detector was activated by this seller.

    Dave,
This vehicle has been listed several times on e-Bay. When I first saw it on March 8th, 2013, I was so upset by the fraudulent language in the auction I contemplated reporting it to e-Bay. Instead, I tried to contact the seller regarding all of the discrepencies noted here by your readers and as expected I never received a response from the seller.
I suspect this is a scam of some sort and the bidding is collusive and not real.

I think Im going to report him to ebay this time…hate to see some poor SOB get scammed by this jerk.

I had thought about that as well, but wanted to get some feedback. I’ll drop eBay a note as well.

Wrong frame, wrong grille, filled bodywork seams, missing several markers of a 1945 model CJ2A, all the hard to find and expensive parts, not column shift, wrong windshield, wrong rear axle…..Lets see.. Has he got anything right???

i live close to munster indiana. in fact i used to live there. i have no idea where this super jeep is. my cj2a is a lot nicer. maybe he’d pay me 20 grand or so.

the billboard for paul heuring ford is familiar. that dealership is in hobart indiana so i suspect this jeep actually is in northwest indiana somewhere.

This defenitely qualifies in the Frankenjeep category, and seems a terrible scam, besides that I hate to see engines and gearboxes sandblasted like this, the buyer is sure to get problems, that stuff creeps into everything and is going to ruin seals and bearings everywhere, especially in expensive and hard to reach places !
