What’s strange about this 1946 article is that it doesn’t show an ‘Army Jeep’. It shows an early CJ-2A. Anyone know where this article appeared?
“1946 How to Fix a Former ARMY JEEP
5-page Post-war Article
w/exploded views of front axle & transfer case
Description, shipping details”
cool! this helps me identify my Dads mystery Jeep.Apparently he had a DJ tub on a military frame.
The article states “1/2 ton truck 4×4”, but should say “1/4” ton (TM 9-803 and other references). The military maintained that nomenclature for decades, including the M151A2 1/4 ton trucks I signed for in the 70s.
I think I read MoToR as a possible magazine reference in the opening paragraph. The really fine print on the lower right says its a civilian chassis, but claims the notes indicates the differences with the military models. Anyone ever hear of MoToR magazine?
Bo .. yes, there was a Motor Magazine out of Toronto, Canada. So, you may be correct.
