On Tuesday March 26th, we touristed several spots around the Alamogordo area.

Our trek to several Alamogordo spots from Tularosa and back.

Be began the day by driving a short distance south of Tularosa, stopping at a Pistachio Farm and, possibly, the worlds largest pistachio!  We also found this Mad-Max-like crazy car.

Next we toured the city of Alamogordo and the New Mexico Museum of Space History. At the museum Ann spotted two pictures of jeeps.

After the museum, we drove to White Sands National Monument. If you go, bring your sunglasses; It is bright as snow. Ann said one or more of the Star Wars snow scenes were filmed there. The sand isn’t sand at all, but crystalized gypsum. Our jeep contrasted nicely against the white background. You can see we had fun taking pictures.

After White Sands, we headed back to Tularosa to relax.

On Wednesday, we have a trip planned to Carlsbad Caverns.

It could have been filmed here, but it was filmed in Australia. We pulled in to photograp the car only to discover we were on private propert. Oops.

Hey Dave, that big yellow thing hanging from the ceiling in the last picture from the museum, isn’t that a “Jeep” ??

Leo, that could be a jeep. I haven’t completed my flying airplane “jeep” education.
