i would say that engine is a ’65 not a ’56
would you agree that the 1952 M-38 Nashville,TN posted today looks more like a ’56 Ford engine with exhaust manifold dumping out on top and dist placement.I had a ’56 engine that came as an extra item with a truck and I think it looked like the one in the M-38.

Frank, i agree. This looks more like a Buick V6.
I would agree that this is a 6 cyl. but I don’t know that much about the Buick V6. Some guys know the difference between all the GM engines.I cant remember them,been a while since I worked on older GM v8s.
i currently have three of these in my shop. they are easy to spot with the distributor in front sporting 6 wires. as for the comment about the 52 m-38 with a ford engine; the ad states he put in a 289. that’s ford

I will now remember about the Buick v6.I do know that 289 is Ford,I am just unclear what year they stopped having the exhaust pipe dump out above exhaust manifold.I am trying to learn more from E WILLYS and people like you about older Jeeps.When I was a young kid I only ever saw one flatfender Jeep in my town, A cj2a. When I started driving it had dissapeared and I had my GPW with Willys L head and an older guy had a cj3b with F head.With little info. and no tags on my Gpw it took me a while to figure out that it was a Ford Jeep.My Jeep is titled as a 1952 Willys and has a handmade tag inside the glovebox.Maybe because that is the year that the Willys engine was installed.
