UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
The seller claims these were used for stamping Willys, MBs, Dodge during WWII. I don’t know if that is true or not, but it is a neat kit.
“Found in estate sale, ww2 military metal stamping kit, all the numbers and letters are there with extra stamping tool. look at my other action for moor military items, thank you”
When i was doing research for thestamping my M38 plates, I saw these kits. Looks correct to me.
This is actually a WWI kit for stamping WWI US dog tags. You can see the sample tag in the box
Interesting .. Thanks Joe.
Joe is correct this is for stamping wwi dogtags. Also the brass jig is to hold the handles of the mess knife fork spoon so they could be stamped with serial number of the soldier.

Hi Rick,
There’s one that might be similar to yours on eBay for $212.99 (apparently the seller has sold 11 of them). So, I hope that helps in terms of value: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CH-Hanson-Steel-Stamp-Set-Serif-WWII-Military-Surplus-37-Piece-Mint-Condition-/253423677216
