UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
Anyone seen one of these toys in person?
“This toy is in excellent condition. It comes with all parts for the Jeep as well as extra parts for all other builds available. All parts are in great condition including the wrench. Take it apart and build something else! Looks like a wooden erector set!
This item is only the wooden pieces. No box is included. No instructions are included. It will be shipped in the form of the Jeep pictured with the extra wooden pieces. If buyer wood like I can dismantle the toy and ship in pieces.”
I have seen one in an antique store, it was an odd looking toy.
I had one that looked like a 1950’s flatbead truck. I like how he spells(if buyer “wood” like…)
Nice to see a good picture of one of the toys I received from Santa at three years old. I still remember the first time I saw the Jeep. Now I’m 55 and pretty much aware this toy shaped my world. My Jeep still stands in my bedroom. I’m quite curious to learn the manufacturor / brand of this toy.
Hub,
Based on some research, it appears Chad Valley Board Games, a United Kingdom company, launched the Happyland brand as a comic in 1925 that morphed into a line of educational toys.
There is a reference to this at google books:

I hope that helps!

Dave,
Thanks a lot. I’ll have a look !
I have one my parents bought me in Germany when I was under 5 years old in the very early 60’s
Hi Ron,
Is it painted the same?
– Dave
Mine is painted basically the same. the biggest difference is that it has all wooden wheels and it also came with a trailer.
I am fairly certain that this one is a cheaper version than mine. I have seen one that was made in Taiwan and mine which was purchased in Germany and there are striking differences. The version shown here came with extra parts to build different things but with mine they were bolted to the trailer with the extra wooden nuts and bolts.
Thanks for the info Ron. I’m amazed there was a knock off of this sold!
WOW! I have been searching info on that Jeep for years.
The only clue I had was from my mom, purchase in early 70′, at a Whoolworth store
In the picture the model is missing the stirring wheel, which was a blue wooden donuts shape piece…
I still have mine… it is awesome that I have a reference for putting the right pieces at the right place… I don’t have the windshield anymore…but I can make one easily…
thank you for the clearing up that mystery life long mystery! (I am 53 now 🙂
