It looks like someone put a lot of work into this pickup. Did he make the extra cab out of Sedan Delivery doors?
**Steve E.**
Looks like he has another flat front end sitting in the background. Whatever he used to do the extensions on the cab really takes care of the problem all those old vintage trucks had, no room behind the wheel unless you were about 5′ 6″!
Wonder what he did to lengthen the chassis or maybe he used a later model Chevy pickup under the body and bed.
Looks like a really nice job so far.
I’ve thought about this so many times! This one looks done pretty well too…not bad on the money either.
this looks similar to the one from jun 9,2011 out of farmington.MO
I am retired in Colombia, south America and have had the opportunity to see some rare models that were made for export by different automakers. Recently I stumbled upon a Willy’s 4 door wagon with ambulance doors and last week I saw what appeared to be an extended cab on a Willy’s truck. My question is, were extended cabs ever officially manufactured or are they all custom projects?
Robert,
As far as I’m aware, there were no production models of extended truck cabs produced in the US by Willys Overland. However, it’s entire possible that someone might have ordered a truck that was then extended by a third party specializing in customizing Willys trucks (like those that were modified for fire engines as one example).
If you capture any odd vehicles, feel free to email me pics. I know the Colombian’s are jeep crazy and I hope to get down there some day.
