1942 Willys Jeep, model D3, rare find. Told that it was the first mail truck in N.C. It needs total restoration , needing engine and transmission. etc. It a great restoration piece. It has a original metal roof and original suspension and drive axles. Two wheel drive.”

    This is the same DJ3A that was listed on ebay a few weeks ago for $199.00 & didn’t sell. Now we have the same Willys for sale in SC instead of NC and the price is $2500.00; talk about inflation. This is what drives up the price of the hobby, greed is not good.

    Mike, thanks for spotting that. I didn’t catch it. I suspect someone bought it and is hoping to quickly resell it? I will link the two posts when I get the chance.

    It certainly isn’t a 1942, but it is a DJ3A, not sure what year unless we had a serial number to work off of. It might have been a special order for a small rural post office, but it looks like it has left hand drive, which is unusual for the post office. I suspect it has a fiberglass top like all the rest of the DJ3A delivery Jeeps had. I do like the side windows, though.

    It’s a North Carolina – South Carolina thing, everybody here has some bogus story and thinks their old cars are worth ten times market value.
