UPDATE: This is back on eBay
(08/15/2012) Here’s an unusual CJ-5. It appears to have been modified by the same people/person who created these other modified jeeps, an observation I’m basing on the top. Given the jeep is from Hesperia, there’s a very good change it is the same group. Note that the jeep was stored for more than three decades.
“Here’s my 1957 jeep, it was stored from around the late 70’s till 2010, still has the original california black plate, runs and drives great!!
paint, interior, and engine change where done around 1960, was owned and customized by a california car customizer in the fresno area
engine is a all stock 1960 283, has the original 4bbl carb, power pack heads, generator with power steering drive, runs perfect, very nicely installed, looks factory
has a 3 speed trans with a borg-warner overdrive unit that’s cable activited, works perfect, make’s jeep very drivable.
has all new tires, complete new top with doors.
interior is 50 years old and looks brand new,(seats where completely covered in plastic when i got it)
this jeep is a great driver, starts right up, drives down the road nice, comes with tow bar.
look at the shine on those black plate’s
also comes with tow bar, tows great!!!
things that need attention: paint still looks good but fading, speedo cable broken (my fault), wipers need motors.
this jeep has never had a roll bar installed, or been beat up offroading
it does have a nice working heater
also have all 4 original wheels that go with it
old original am radio (tube type) works
have original owners manual.
it also has dual fuel tanks, with a manual switching valve
original carb tag #’s say 60-61 corvette 245hp, maybe a corvette engine may not, i can’t see the numbers on back of block, had a flat top water pump (had to replace) and have original fuel pump also possible
corvette related….but not sure
4×4 works perfect, high and low range
the last picture is pretty much how it was found when rolled out of the storage barn
i did not do much to the engine compartment, mostly steam cleaned it, replace plugs, wires, cap rotor, rebuilt carb, new radiator, i was going to pull the motor and paint it up nice, but it runs so good i don’t want to screw something up…….pictures look worse than in person”
Yep Fresno Jeep. I wonder why he put the steps on inside out?
