One of the arguments for the Parkway conversion is that the delivery wagon “can now be registered as a suburban vehicle, which grants it access to boulevards and other zoned sections where commercial vehicles are not allowed.”
Anyone know how restrictive this zoning was?

Great find, Dave! Now if you can find some original information about the Willys Wagon Traveler. The only thing I’ve learned is that a Traveler had flat wheel wells for a bench seat along the side.

Paul Barry at Willys America has a 2wd Traveler. I took some pictures of it at the annual Willys America BBQ and Open House last month. You can see them here: http://www.oldwillysforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3255
As far as I understand it, Travelers had the flat topped inner wheelweels with the two person bench seats mounted on them, the rear panel barn doors, and regular side (sliding) windows. The overseas versions (spelled per the British English standard “Traveller”) also had a roof mounted spare.
Thanks for the info, and the great photos, Scrambooleer. I’ve seen a restored Traveler for sale near Bend, OR, but it didn’t have the back seats, so I didn’t learn much with that one. Paul Berry’s Traveler is 2wd with Maverick trim, and obviously a former US Forest Service rig, by the color and brass nomenclature plate on the glove compartment door.
I just noticed that the brass plate says it’s a rare 6-230, serial No. 10002, the second one made. It’s a rare vehicle, indeed! Now I need to know if Travelers were 2WD, 4WD, or both.
I planned to go on Jim Russell’s Willys America Caravan from Milbrae this year, but I had to cancel at the last minute. Look at all the Jeepsters in a row! I missed out. 🙁
I will for sure make Jim’s West Coast Willys event at Whitewater Ranch this weekend near Eugene, OR. I’ll be there with my FC. You guys in the Northwest, this will be a fun event, so don’t forget to go! Contact Jim Russell for info. 🙂
