(06/10/2010) This has quite a roll cage.
“4 wheel or 2 wheel 4cyl scout engine – Needs a carburetor
Ok Shape. $1000- This is located in Askov, MN 1.5 hours North of TC. Two exits N of Hinkley”
That’s not a roll cage, it’s an exoskeleton!
Seems to be a little bit of overkill for a rear view mirror mount.
Doubles the curb weight
What’s that green thing hanging near the rear window inside the cab?
Steve .. that’s a good question. My first guess is some kind of early backpack, but after looking more closely I don’t think that is it. There appears to be a handle at the top. Maybe a rack of some kind?
I should go check this out as it’s about 40 miles away. last one i saw simmilar to this but had a winch on the front that would go over the top on rollers was used for moose hunting.dave
That “Green Thing” is an old Pack board use to carry heavy loads on the back such as crew served weapons, cans of ammo and such, they originally had little shelves that clipped in slots on the back and the load was then lashed with rope. The side you see there is the canvas pad that goes against your back. Kind of got off the Jeep subject but I thought I would share that.
I agree, the roll cage is a bit Overkill. Mama was probably a “Jeep Hater”, over the years I’ve met a few, most have had family members killed in Jeep accidents from taking corners too fast or just putting too many horseys under the hood. It’s a shame, They are such awesome vehicles.
MIke .. thanks for the pack board explanation!
Finally had some time and some cash burning a hole in my pocket so I went and checked it out.Body not so great, frame fair needs a little work on rear tails. But it has a good title and a warn overdrive. Has f head motor that is supposed to be good runner, needs carb looked at. So i bought it for 800.00. But i didn’t get the helmet or back board.
Congrats Dave. That sounds like a good price given the OD.
