Bill writes, “Another victim of Katrina….I wonder if I could get a government grant to restore it? Found 10 miles from the epicenter of the storm. Was under 20 feet of salt water, never washed off until years after the storm. A few rare parts and a LOT OF ROT..”
David, he has photos up now. Looks good for the money. I’ll be someone sweeps this up
Thanks … am finally back online after some technical difficulties … specifically my computer ran out of power and my converter blew a fuse. HORRORS!!
I think that’s an Amphicar beside it!
I was thinking that was an Amphicar too. Damn, I wish I was nearby, that Surrey would have to come home with me.
UPDATE: The auction has been deleted by its author this morning. No further info known at this time.
From what we know now, this was a Katrina victim. Sure looks good in pix for taking a salt water bath how many years ago??? It should look like the Amphicar beside it.
Looked great in the pics but up close and personal…..not so good. Over at the 3B dispatcher board there is some more discussion on it, and a link to my pictures of it.. It now resides in Coleman, Texas but restoration may be beyond me.This picture says it all. Jeep was under 20 feet of salt water that overflowed the levee and demolished the owner’;s house leaving just the foundation.
oh no! I will add the picture to this post. I didn’t know it was possible for critters to make it into the speedometer!
