After a couple days in Omaha, we are cruising to Colorado Springs for the weekend to visit my Ann’s friends. The weather so far has been perfect, with beautiful blue skies. We have only had two near misses (cars switching lanes into us — you’d think a bright red mustang would be easy to see against the endless brown fields, but, nope, some drivers just seem intent on making our drive that much more interesting). I had my first Runza while in Omaha, which is a lot like a Russian Piroshki, but not deep fried. It won’t be my last.
Thankfully, the mobile broadband is functioning beautifully, hence the updates this afternoon. On Monday we will be in Denver for two meetings I have, then on Tuesday we head back to Omaha.
Hey Dave. It’s ironic how you write about near misses and how can people not see you. I’m teaching my daughter to drive her 2004 Mustang convertible, and on our way back from getting some groceries were minding our business when some lady turns left and crashes into us !Airbags and car parts. Everyone is ok except my daughter got the airbag in the nose and had a bloody nose. The lady said she didn’t see us! Now the car is wrecked and my kid is very upset. I wish people would just concentrate. I hope you have a safe trip and no morons wreck your day. thanks for letting me vent.
Hope you like Denver! I’m here in Englewood. There’s a lot of Willys out here. Hope you enjoy your trip.
James
Frank .. oh no! I’m happy to hear everyone is safe. I spent a year working for allstate claims and received a call about a very serious accident involving a 16 yo new driver. Then, a few hours later, I took a call about a minor fender bender involving the same young woman, which occurred before the serious accident. I concluded that the woman was involved in a fender bender that shook her up so much she caused a much more serious accident. Very sad.
Jim: Thanks. I’m driving to the top of Pikes Peak today. Tomorrow, after my meetings, we are heading to Casa Bonita in Lakewood. I’ve been the Salt Lake version of the restaurant, but never to the Denver version of it. Ann has not been to either one, so I told her she was in for an unusual dining experience.
Dave…
That’s cool, hope you enjoy Pikes Peak.. Make sure you adjust your carbs if your driving Biscuit.. On the other hand Casa Bonita is OK here. However my favorite Mexican restaurant is Blue Bonnet on Broadway, just south of Alameda. If you want to you can stop over here while your heading up to Colorado Springs, call me on my cell at 303-518-5285. Me and my dad are restoring my 1950 CJ3A and hope to sell it soon to work on our text project. Anyways, have a good trip in the Mile High city!
James,
I will give you a call tomorrow in the late morning and see if we can arrange a visit for later in the day. Yeah, I don’t think Casa Bonita will be all that good … we are just going for the experience.
