   I cant understand putting up an ad without a phone number. using email is like going back to the 19th century and using the telegraph.

   The biggest reason I think people don’t post their phone number is that they think their phone number might be harvested by scammers. And, based on what I’ve read, there have been cases of scammers harvesting numbers. But, it seems more of a rare event. That said, my parents have had their number a long time and get inundated with all kinds of crap calls. So, I suspect there are many others tired of junks calls.

   A secondary reason is that they can more easily screen responses. Unfortunately, in my experience, the craigslist emailing system has occasional problems. That’s the reason I always post my phone number.

   Ive had people wait a week to respond by email. just did with a guy only ten miles from my house. could have had his item same day he put up the ad. he blew the sale. might as well correspond by newspaper and the post office. ive had this happen several times so i dont respond to ads without a phone number.
