UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
(06/17/2009) This looks great. Note the extra gas tank behind the driver and passenger. You can see the inlet sticking out the back. Was this common?

I’m positive that I wouldn’t want the gas tank in the cab with me….
^^…Yeah…I’d rather sit on it…. lol… Up until the mid 70’s most pickup trucks had a tank behind the seat….You sat on the tank in jeeps until the early 70’s. We rode in the back of trucks with no seat belt, rode our bikes with no helmet and actually lived to tell the stories…..
It looks like the fuel tank was added. I have never seen a CJ-5 with this conversion before. I have seen many creative fuel tank additions in the past. I am pretty sure that this is not a factory or dealer addon. This looks like a home brew addition. My CJ has the factory dual tank option. A tank under each seat with the original fuel selector switch between the seats. The original owner gave me a box of paperwork, and it had the original invoice with all of the factory options done to it. It never bothered me to be sitting on the tank, as long as they are not leaking. 😮
