UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $900
(01/22/2011) This is a project. This seller also has a 1948 CJ-2A for sale.
“1948-49 CJ-3A Willys – $1200 (OBO Elk River) Here is a decent starting point for someone interested in building a vintage Willy’s Flat Fender Jeep with V6 power.
This CJ model featured the one piece style windshield which followed the CJ-2A. One photo below shows what it looked like when we got it. The baja tires/rims have been traded off for the traditional slotted 16” rims.
This jeep originally came from Washington State. We received this Willy’s CJ3A in trade. There is no title. There is bill of sale from the previous owner and you would receive that copy and a new one for this sale.
The previous owner acquired this with an odd fire 231 Dauntless V6 (included) & intended to repower it with a newer rebuilt Buick V6 (also included). The price includes both V6’s. The Advance Adapters V6 to T-90 transmission adapter & what appears to be the correct aluminum bell housing are included.
Transmission is a T-90 A-1 Borg Warner, mated to Spicer transfer case, front axle is Spicer 25 and rear axle is whatever original came in 48. Included are both drive shafts and a spare rear axle. I did not open the transmission or transfer case.
The frame was modified by the previous owner in the following ways: a custom front bumper was added, front frame reinforced and designed to accept a winch. A later, manual style, Saginaw steering box is mounted and works fine, V6 motor mounts are welded in as are repositioned radiator and battery mounts.
1972 era Jeep 11” brakes are fitted on the front axle, standard ones are on the back. I replaced the brake cylinders and shoes with new parts and the brake lines on the axles are new. I did not have any drum work done.
When I received it, I removed the tub, sand blasted the frame, painted it with Valspar Farm & Implement Black paint intended as a primer. I’ve worked some on the fenders, grill and hood. Seat frames & gas tank were repainted. The tub is rather rough but workable for someone who knows what they are doing.
We are moving and we need to reduce our number of vintage Willy’s projects. I can also provide you with a Photo CD of every picture I’ve taken regarding what work I’ve done so far.
I also have a complete, mostly original, restoration ready 1948 CJ2A with 12 volt conversion for sale.”
