UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $800.

I’m thinking this needs a little more than just some wiring. What is on the hood?

I think on the hood that’s the rare “Turkey Roasting Pan” option that Willys briefly offered. The heat from the manifold roasted a 10 lb. turkey while you drove to grandma’s. It wasn’t popular because you had to pull off to the side of the road numerous times to baste the turkey.

The Turkey Roasting Pan option was an early option. However, as you point out, the stop-and-baste requirement was a considerably drawback.

So, they eliminated the Roasting Pan in favor of the smoking option. Just stick some mesquite chunks on the engine and let the engine heat the chips, which smoked the bird. It was particularly effective over long drives.

Why that’s the Texas Pit Boss option upgrade they offered to Texas oil tycoons back in the day. It had hand woven oil colored canvas seating with a convenient oversized ashtray for large cigars. The pit smoker was popular for those late night drives from Muleshoe to Cut and Shoot as roadkill could be quickly drawn, quartered then placed on the stainless steel grill for the remainder of the trip. A popular after-market grew that included a sauce heater next to the oil bath filter and a PTO accessory for setting up a whole hog rotisserie behind the pump jack.

Don’t forget the optional road-warrior-spike PTO attachment that connected to the front bumper similar to the mounting of a plow. The 4ft spike was made of hardened steel that could slice through any type of prey. The mounting system allowed the use of the plow attachments to raise and lower the spike so that animals of various sizes could be successfully nabbed. In an early cross promotion, a handy set of Julia Child skinning knives in a leather pouch were also included and easily stowable under the passenger seat box.
